Bagsmart Blast Pro Review: The Best Budget Travel Combo?
A roller backpack and a travel backpack for about $300, less than one premium carry-on. I tested the Bagsmart Roll & Roam kit on real trips.
The brand sent me this product to review. They don’t see the review before it’s published and they don’t pay for a good score. Links on this page may be affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. How that works.
What I like
- Whole kit (roller + backpack) costs about the same as one premium carry-on
- Hidden backpack straps and a wheel cover so you can carry it up stairs
- Tons of pockets, fits a 16" laptop, deep bottle pocket
- Matching packing cubes with extra compression zippers
What I don’t
- Water resistant, not waterproof
- Generic look and orange wheels won't be for everyone
- Straps need more padding if you carry it a lot
We all want the best stuff, but we can’t all afford it. Bagsmart makes budget-friendly travel gear, and the Roll & Roam kit gets you a travel backpack and a roller backpack for around $300. That’s less than a single high-end carry-on from a lot of brands. Bagsmart sent the kit; opinions are mine.
Looks
Even if the function is perfect, we all care how it looks. I got the Oyster color. It’s simple and more utility than luxury. The logo is big on the backpack and subtle on the roller. Honestly it’s a fairly generic look.
Blast Pro 38L backpack
It’s ripstop nylon: durable enough without getting heavy. I wish it were waterproof and not just water resistant. The 38L size was perfect for my girlfriend, who’s about 5’1”, and it has every compartment you could want: a sleeve for a 16-inch laptop and an iPad, a top pocket, a deep elastic bottle pocket that fits a small tripod, and a front-opening main compartment for one or two days of clothes. There’s a shoe compartment, an expansion zipper, and a hidden back pocket for your passport.
Blast Pro 43L roller
The roller is simpler and I like how it looks, apart from the orange wheels. It has one big compartment with two zip pockets but no shoe compartment. The handle pulls out easily and feels sturdy. Hidden in the back are backpack straps and a removable waist strap, plus a cover for the wheels so they don’t touch your back. That’s the whole point of this bag: roll it through the terminal, throw it on your back for stairs.
The straps could use more cushion if you carry it a lot, but if you mostly roll it, thin straps keep the bag slim.
Trade-offs
A form factor that tries to do both does both a bit worse. It won’t protect your stuff like a hard shell and it won’t carry like a dedicated backpack. But for trips where you don’t want a separate carry-on and backpack, it’s very useful.
Verdict
One of the best budget options out there. Use code Nathan1002 on the roller, Nathan1001 on the backpack or Nathan10 on the full kit for 10% off. Compare it to the other carry-on styles in my carry-on comparison.

Questions people ask
How many days does the Bagsmart Blast Pro 43L fit?
It's great for a weekend. If you pack light, the roller plus the 38L backpack works for 5 to 7 days, as long as it isn't somewhere cold.
Is the Bagsmart Blast Pro waterproof?
No, it's water resistant. It handles light rain, but I'd be careful with a laptop in the front pocket in heavy rain.
